How card fees work
One simple rate per payment type that covers Stripe’s card processing and payouts. No commissions, no new-client fees.

Each rate below covers Stripe’s processing and payout costs, and it’s the same on every payment of that type.

Two real examples.
The fee comes out of the payment automatically, before it reaches your payout — you’re never billed separately.
In person
$80 service paid in person → fee $2.47 → you receive $77.53
Online deposit
$50 online deposit → fee $1.90 → you receive $48.10
Paid weekly or daily, by plan.
Paid weekly (Mondays) on Starter, every business day on Growth and above — standard payouts usually arrive about 2 business days after they’re sent. Instant Payouts anytime for 1.7%.
Refunds don’t get the fee back.
If you refund a payment, the card fee isn’t returned (our payment processor doesn’t return it to us either).
Chargebacks work the way Stripe handles them.
A chargeback happens when a client’s bank reverses a card payment instead of you issuing a refund. The disputed amount is held from your balance while the bank reviews it and returned to you if the dispute is decided in your favor (a decision partly in your favor returns part of it). A dispute fee equal to what our payment processor charges for it (currently $15) is deducted from your balance by our processor, or collected with your later card fees. If you contest a dispute, our payment processor charges an additional contest fee (currently $15). It may be taken from your balance when your response is submitted, or collected with your later card fees. You get it back, or are never charged it, only if the dispute is decided fully in your favor — if you lose or only partly win, you pay it.

Stripe charges us for processing and for each payout. Our rate is set to cover those costs, and we don’t charge commission on your services or new-client fees.
